SEO Dictionary Guide for e-Commerce

Often, when looking for information about e-commerce SEO, we come across specialized words and expressions that may be unclear, such as SEO, SEM, content marketing, conversion, meta description, no follow, long-tail SEO.

We decided to demystify the world of e-commerce SEO, so with the help of linguist Dr. Piotr Fliciński from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, we prepared a dictionary guide related to SEO for you. We hope it will be a useful tool in your work.

A few example terms from the dictionary:

SEO «marketing activity aimed at -> optimizing the content, structure, composition and content of a website (-> content), increasing the number of -> internal linking and -> external linking in order to achieve success in terms of visibility and valuation of the website by search engine tools; any activities using knowledge of the quality and value of the main and sub-pages of the website, aiming to arouse the interest of the potential customer (recipient), contributing to a high degree of -> conversion; website positioning for search engines»

SEM «the set of marketing activities (advertising campaigns, sponsored links, positioning, -> website optimization) spread over time aimed at achieving visibility of the website, website pages by search engines; SEM includes, among others, marketing activities related to positioning and -> website optimization -> SEO»

content marketing «website content organization strategy taking into account -> SEO activities intended for a specific target group of potential customers»

conversion «the desired behavior of the recipient as a result of the application of marketing strategies intended for this purpose, e.g. making a purchase, filling out a form, creating an account, subscribing to a blog or wanting to receive a newsletter, contacting the service, etc.»

Meta Description «Attribute of the so-called page description visible in search results»

Nofollow «Attribute of a link that is to be read by search engines as natural, neutral»

Long-tail Keywords «Words that have the character of specifying the need expressed in customer queries, usually consisting of phrases of more than two elements, e.g. desktop computer for games detailed phrase, keyword phrase»
