An update has been released for the compatibility module and for Google-related applications: Google Analytics, Remarketing, Google Ads conversion, and Google Tag Manager. The changes are related to the implementation of the new version of Google's consent mode system - Consent Mode v2. It will be mandatory from March 1, 2024 to use Google's advertising tools, such as Google Ads.
Google's consent mode refers to the way data is collected by Google Ads and Google Analytics, so that the data collection process complies with the regulations on personal data protection in the European Union. In Google's consent mode, before collecting data about users, it is necessary to obtain their explicit consent for such actions. This is particularly important in the context of processing personal data, which is subject to privacy regulations. This mode includes additional requirements, such as clearly informing users about the purposes of data collection and obtaining their active consent for these purposes.
How is the consent mode implemented in the SOTESHOP online store?
In SOTESHOP stores, the Google consent mode is linked to the cookie settings in the compliance module. The customer must agree to certain Google actions, so it is best to ask them about it immediately after entering the website, hence setting up a cookie banner for version 3 is practically required.
When the Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager module is enabled, additional sliders appear in the cookie settings in the store.
Updates are available as standard for all SOTESHOP 8 stores with SOTESHOP Start, Standard, PRO or VIP subscription services. Check the store update documentation: Update documentation
